The Langtang region is the closest Himalayan trekking destination to Kathmandu, making it a very easily accessible trekking destination. However, there are not many people who go for an 8-Day Langtang Trek. The trail throughout the trek is very less crowded in comparison to the Everest region, the Annapurna highlands, and others. This trek is the best option for trekkers who enjoy a quiet and peaceful trekking experience far from the crowd.
The natural setting of the Langtang Valley is its main selling point; the beautiful rhododendron forest, waterfalls, magnificent scenes of the northern Himalayas, and the charming Tamang settlements along the route make the trek beautiful. The welcoming Tamang communities and their ancient culture are something you will remember for years to come.
We have also included an acclimatization day to make sure our bodies adapt to the changing environment correctly. Oftentimes, trekkers try to speed up the pace of the climb and end up being hit with altitude sickness. We should follow the pace of the guide to ensure no risk of altitude sickness whatsoever. Making use of our acclimatization day, we will take a short hike to Kyanjin Ri or a long challenging hike to Tserko Ri.
We will also visit the Kyanjin Monastery, a 17th-century gompa that hosts all the major religious festivals and activities of the region. Some people say that it is over 700 years old, but in reality, it is about 400 years old. The building’s architecture follows the traditional Tibetan Buddhism style.
In addition to that, we will also visit the Cheese Factory located in Kyanjin village. Trekkers and visitors are allowed to see the entire process of making traditional Nepalese cheese. You should try Nepalese cheese, they are different from Western ones. With all that being said, here is a detailed breakdown of our 8-Day Langtang Trek package.

The 8-Day Langtang Trek starts with a 6-hour drive to Syabru Besi from Kathmandu. This drive is quite scenic as we will follow the Trishuli River for the most part, and scenes of the hills and terrace farmlands will accompany us for hours. Once we get to Syabru Besi, we will check in at our accommodation for the night and leave the room to explore the town a little. Syabru Besi is the starting point of any trek that falls within the Langtang Valley.
On a scale of 10, our trek experts have rated this 8-Day Langtang Trek a solid 7.5 since the daily treks are very long and the occasional steep sections are tough to climb, however, it is doable. We have taken many trekkers on this trek, and even though they seem to be exhausted with the climbs, the scenes that follow get rid of the exhaustion. The decreased oxygen in the air also makes it a little harder for trekkers since your body will breathe more breaths to make up for the deficit.
The spring season is definitely the best season for the 8-Day Langtang Trek. During the early spring season, the bright red rhododendron flowers bloom beautifully, making the scenes even more appealing. Spring is also known for its lush green scenes, good air quality, and mild temperature throughout the day. Many people prefer this season for trekking, which means you might visit a few like-minded friends along the way.
The autumn season is another best season for this trek. This season has the same features as spring, minus the lush green vegetation, but it makes up for it by making sure that there is no rain.
Yes, a beginner can absolutely join the 8-Day Langtang Trek. This trek has been said to be difficult at certain sections, but with proper preparation and physical training, those sections should not be a major issue. This trek can be done by 10-year-olds as well since we do not go to extreme elevations above 5000 meters.
Altitude Sickness generally starts from the elevation of 3500 meters above sea level, but the effects of this illness are very negligible at such lower regions. Many people suffer from altitude sickness because they are not practicing the preventive measures effectively, or they just rush to get to their high elevation destination, breaking the safe pace limit. Almost every case of altitude sickness can be prevented with proper measures.
For example, you must keep yourself well hydrated throughout the 8-Day Langtang Trek. You must also not consume alcohol or excessive coffee since both drinks dehydrate your body. Also, our guide will check your oxygen levels every day to keep an eye on early signs of altitude sickness. All in all, this trek does not pose a risk of altitude sickness.
Your accommodation during the trekking days is limited to tea houses and lodges, while the lower region villages have a few luxury lodges, the highlands have not heard of them yet. All your accommodation needs as per the itinerary will be covered by the 8-Day Langtang Trek package. This does not include your stay in Kathmandu before the start of the trek and after the trek ends. Upgrades and additional accommodation will be charged separately.
The Nepalese national dish of Dal Bhat, Potato roll soup, Chowmein, Momo, Spaghetti, noodles, Fried Rice, Pasta, momo with soup, dhido, etc., are your lunch and dinner options. There are many more items, but they change as we gain elevation and the villages get more remote. As for drinks, we recommend you stick to warm tea, hot chocolate, and coffee (occasionally). You can also try the locally brewed alcohol if you are into it; remember to not go overboard.
All the transportation required by the itinerary we have proposed above will be managed by us and covered by your 8-Day Langtang Trek package. This includes the drive to the starting point of the trek, Syabru Besi, and the drive back to Kathmandu at the end of the trek. You will not have to pay extra for these transports. However, you might have to pay extra in case we go off-course following your preference.
You will only need a Langtang National Park permit to legally go on this 8-Day Langtang Trek. Your permits are a part of the trek package, which means the expenses related to it will be covered by the package. Our guide will help you to apply for the permits and obtain them in Kathmandu.
Even though our 8-Day Langtang Trek is beginner-friendly, that does not mean that you can just hop off your sofa and get on this trail. It’s a really taxing journey to the Himalayas that demands great physicality. If you are someone who is overweight, you should immediately work on yourself. We recommend cardio exercises and endurance-building exercises.
Our 8-Day Langtang Trek package will cost you just USD _______ per person. Our trek package covers a wide range of expenses such as daily meals, permit fees, accommodation, daily wages for guides and porters, insurance fees for the crew members, etc.
The Langtang region is very close to the capital city, which means the infrastructure in the region is well-developed. They are not as good as Everest’s and Annapurna’s, but they do the job just good. Electricity is available throughout the day, and internet connections are not reliable, but they are present for most of the trek. If you want to, you can also get a Nepalese SIM to use for data connection. However, even this is not a viable solution since the internet speed from a SIM card is even worse.
Upgraded and additional accommodation, tips for the porters and guides, additional meals, snacks, water, energy bars, visa fees, hot shower, WiFi fees, travel and medical insurance, etc., are considered to be your extra expenses.
This 8-Day Langtang Trek package does not arrange your stay in Kathmandu before or after your trek. If you want us to manage them, we will get you rooms for your stay in Kathmandu, but you will have to pay for the service separately. In addition to that, you can also upgrade your accommodation during the trekking days. There are not many upgrade options, but we will upgrade it to what is available and what your preferences are. Upgrades are not a part of the standard trek package.
We will reach a maximum elevation of 4,773 meters (15,662 feet) above sea level at the viewpoint of Kyanjin Ri. If you decide to do an acclimatization hike to Tserko Ri, you will reach 5,033 meters (16,512 feet) above sea level, but most people decide not to do it since it takes over 8 hours and is a challenging hike.
No, your final chance of getting some cash is at Syabrubesi’s ATMs or banks. From there on, you will not find any ATMs. You should carry some cash to make sure that you can pay for extra expenses.
Yes, modifying the itinerary and/or combining two nearby trekking destinations is a great way to explore the region in depth. We can definitely arrange a combination trekking experience if you are up for it. However, there are times when they are not a viable option, you should discuss it with the trek guide before we agree on an itinerary.
